Cultivating Intersectional Brilliance for QTGNC and BIPOC Communities
Democracy Lab South (Demo Lab South)
We are a movement and an incubation hub that builds power, strategy, and infrastructure with and for QTGNC (Queer, Trans, and Gender Non-Conforming) and BIPOC-led (Black, Indigenous, and people of color ). We do this by supporting community-based projects and organizations throughout the US South. Through this work, we envision a Southern movement ecosystem where QTGNC and BIPOC leadership and brilliance thrive.
OUR GOAL IS TO BUILD MOVEMENT POWER IN FOUR AREAS
-
Power to develop, maintain, and leverage relationships with people and institutions with influence over and access to critical social, cultural, or financial resources.
-
Power to transform and hold public narratives and ideologies and limit the influence of opposing narratives.
-
Power to build, mobilize, and sustain large-scale public support.
-
Power to influence the who, how, and what of decision making.
Our organization is driven to make a tangible impact in communities across the US South. We collaborate with our partners to reinforce Southern movement infrastructure by identifying key needs and gaps, and providing support in the following ways:
Facilitating connections for grassroots mentorship and collective learning.
Offering sub-grants and resource supplementation.
Providing coaching, training, and technical assistance.
